Juli Ran!!!

It was rather easy getting up. Started after 6:00. Maybe that helps. Also went to bed by 10:30. I know that makes a difference.

30 minutes with interruption of letting one of the girls in the cottage. But 11 minute mile the whole time!!!

Goal: 4 mile in Al, 42 min. This is the steepest goal so far this year, but isn't it going to feel great!!!

Freaked out by the possible ice storm coming our way, Ken and the girls were up on the couch when I was supposed to be doing Cathe. I didn't move them because I thought that was a good excuse not to do anything today! But I did feel sluggish and yuck. Try again tomorrow.

Update

So Dawn quit cause it's too cold. Don't blame her, but I would have kept going. Then I thought I had another partner, but she is still dealing with 2 children waking up in the middle of the night. Definately don't blame her either. So I need to find some self-discipline and get up off my a** each morning. The ipod is fixed for all of your songs in the beginning, so get a move on!!!!

(And order Cathe for a real butt burner.)

We did a family 2 mile today. The kids stayed in the strollers, well Grace ran the last 100 yards and I had to carry Daniel the last 3/4 mile. Poor boy was so cold because his overalls came up when he was sitting in the stroller.

We think we finished in a little under 30 minutes, maybe faster. We actually got there late adn I htink passed everyone in the walk (there weren't very many and most were pretty old except a mother-son team who were passing a football as they walked.) Cool t-shirt, all that matters right? Gabe's for breakfast.

So glad we did it. Even Ken enjoyed it.

25 degrees when we were done, no wind.

Not bad. I am surprised! I thought below 32 would be rough. My ears hurt and lips are dry but hat or earmuffs and vasaline will fix that.

Great race today!!! Westchester 10K.
According to my watch, here are my splits:

As you can see I tried very hard in miles 1-5 and then took it easy the last mile because I was so happy and wanted to end happy, not stressed. I walked water stops (3) and twice in mile 6. I actually stopped my watch late at the end so I ran under 1:08 and I met my personal goal.

Wore the wrong socks and have blisters though. :-(

Went with Wendy, who by the way did great. I'm sure she will be able to finish her 1/2 marathon just great.

For all of those out there that read my juli runs blog, you should know that Wendy Bushen is great. My life wouldn't be complete without her.

(Happy now?) And by the way I believe I have only one reader to this blog.

30 m in today and yesterday. (well I pretty much forgot today and Dawn was late as well so we got a late start. probably 20-25 min.)

I'm ready for yoga tomorrow.

I did yoga today and I feel great! Everytime i move my spine pops! But it's good. My goal is to do the whole "breathe" dvd by December. Right now, or today I did the instructional dvd, about 1/2 through.

Running tues, wed, thurs this week. Allison may be joining in as well.

Also...Nov. Dec. diet plan---snacks are veggies and fruit based. Meaning dip is fine, move toward fibericious dips, low fat. Cool whip is ok too. Peanut butter with an apple every now and then, a few almonds much better.

Anyone got a favorite?

Skipped Mon. because Dawn was sick. Just couldn't get up for weights on Tues. Did it today 30 min.!

I'm excited because DAwn asked how we are going to do it in the cold instead of when will we stop!

Been running steadily. Constant routine of Mon, wed, fri for 30. Wed. is "speed work." Haven't missed a day.

I started weights this week too. Very slowly.

Need to get back to weekend runs. Haven't since Harvest Days, my normal pattern. Work up to something and then quit.

The first was great. The second we went to fast by 20 seconds. The third was better and we were tired by the forth. DON'T LOSE YOUR PARTNER JULI!!! Don't push too hard. It's better to be out there every day than work on speed.

Harvest Days

I felt great during and after this race. Here are my splits according to my own time keeping...

I was so excstatic about being way under 11 minutes. I was expecting a 36:00 at best.

It was a nice fast, flat course with 2 water stops. Great T too. Definately will do it again next year.

Now next week is the 40 foot challenge. I have to get in the right frame for that. My time will not be as good by nature of the course. But it should be a great challenge.

Goal for next flat course is to break a 10 minute mile for at least one.

You muddled through the Daniel waking, Luci hungry and up and wanting to exercise too and did it!

A little weak on the triceps and chest and you skimped out just a little on lunges.

Did everything with 10s or 5s.

Great drive. You didn't do anything this weekend, but actually lived up to your promise to do 4 today! It wasn't total run because you walked with Dawn some, but you ran faster with her too so great!

Also, try to get in yoga and more wieghts. Yoga should help with the stiffness and weights will take off the weight!

I went on the path, first with the goal of 6 miles. However, I slept in today with no kids in the house, watched television and then slept some more. So I went out at excactly high noon, literally. When I went out the shadows were on the left side of hte path, on the way back they were on the right. So, I changed my goal to 4 miles. However, I then ran into a horrible stench. toward the middle end of mile 2. I was literally going to puke, so I turned around and went back. I think I should get the 6 miles in next weekend. Then I will be ready for The Harvest Days 5K.

4 miles!!! Slow and easy. Felt good.

I ran the path down and back. I timed my miles and the times don't make sense. They are 2 minutes off, so I think the mile markers are off. It was encouraging to see my times were better the further I went. I believe it was the music choices that caused that.

Ok, I now have a jogging partner. One of the girls in interested in running every day to get ready for track in the spring. This should help with motivation in the morning. However, she only wants to do about a mile every day. I think I can work it out where I start with her, wake up the Marian girls, and then add some more. We'll try it next week. (tomorrow is weights or yoga)

What a horrible work out week

Whoah have I been enjoying this week of sort of vacation/work. I've been up until midnight and not getting up early. The few times I've set my alarm, I did it wrong. I need to start taking things seriously since Harvest Days is not far off as well as a 5K trail run at the end of September that I want to do.

I plan on running 3 days/week.
--one day "sprint" work. (working on 10mph miles)
--one day easy, but not too long
--one day slow and long run, minimum 3 miles, up to 6 miles

I plan on doing a Cathe video 2 days/week
--right now the one saved on directv is good
--later my favorite if I find it, and buy it if I can't
--full body, but skip the dumb stuff

I plan on doing yoga 1 day/week
--the dvd we have
--this is hard because I don't like it that much
--but I do appreciate the stretching and relaxing
--I feel yoga in places that other exercises don't get
--I need to not expect to feel comfortable with it for a few weeks or months

I plan on 1 rest day/week
--on this day a walk or leisure activity with the family is preferred

Last week some time started concentrated on jogging with 10mph 400 and walking 200 for 2 miles. I made every 400 in under 2:30 (the first was 2:15, the last was 2:31, close enough)

8/3--my alarm was unplugged (would I have really gone, even if it hadn't been?)

Aug. 4th

Ran 2.75 miles at a very consistent12:02 mph pace.

It felt great! I would have finished 3 like I had planned, but had to go to the bathroom bad.

I used the ipod.

Had a bottle of water.

Juli Runs

I have noticed that each after each child, getting in shape becomes harder and harder. (i know duh right?) Anyway, I ran a marathon just 9 months after Grace was born, the got pregnant again, a year after Luci was born I was just starting to step into the world of non-women's sizes and shopping at "regular" stores, feeling great and able to run long distances when low and behold I was pregnant again. (Is is a coincidence that I become pregnant after getting in shape? I think not.)

So now it's a year after Daniel was born. I have climbed the Sear's Tower and completed a triathlon. You would think I would be a skinny mini, but alas, it is takin even longer to get into shape after my final pregnancy. But here i go.

I have changed my diet and have really been trying to add in exercise, including weight lifting which I know is the way I always take off the pounds. I did it with the first 2 pregnancies and in college 2 times when I saw a dietician and when I was married for 6 months and realized I needed to lose weight (which caused the first pregnancy!)

So this blog is just for me really to keep track of my progress. But if anyone finds it interesting, feel free.
